OLD MILL THEATRE PROGRAM - 2009

Renowned director Stephen Lee will be guiding this production of Shakespeare's classic play.  For something a little different, the production will not be held at the theatre itself, but down the road at the Scented Garden on the South Perth foreshore.  Patrons will be able to bring along their picnic sets and enjoy our first ever outdoor season.

A group of women in war-torn England set up a theatre company.  We Happy Few is a light and quirky play, and one that is sure to entertain.  Simon James, who directed Jake's Women at Old Mill in 2008, will be at the helm.

Being the 60th anniversary of the Old Mill Theatre in 2009, we wanted to find a play that suitably marks the occasion.  We think Streetcar Named Desire is perfect - it's also 60 years since the West End production of the play that starred Vivien Leigh a couple of year before she appeared in the famous 1951 film.  Danni Ashton returns to Old Mill again this year (she directed Sum of Us in 2008) for this landmark play for us.

October - The Shape of Things

It's been a couple of years since Sue Lynch, a former Chairperson of Old Mill, directed here.  That production was the highly acclaimed Art, which was recognised by the Independent Theatre Association as one of the top plays performed in Perth in 2007, and won a Best Actor award for Dean Schulze.  This year she takes on this fairly dark tale about a University student who falls in love with a girl who tries to change him a just a little bit too much...

December - A Night on the Tiles

Hywel Williams brings us this play set in his native home of Wales.  We think this will be a great way for us to close what we expect will be a fantastic and memorable year.
